As an essential part of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients. The perioperative nurse designs, coordinates, and delivers care during the perioperative phase, applying knowledge of procedures and intraoperative experiences. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation, addressing physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual responses. The role involves activities across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases, including patient education, advocacy, environment control, asepsis maintenance, physiological and psychological monitoring, resource management, supervision, and collaboration. Essential Duties

Adhere to Universal Patient Safety Goals and safety standards for medication labeling and sterile procedures. Apply scientific knowledge in the nursing process to formulate and modify care plans. Delegate tasks appropriately based on scope of practice and capability. Evaluate care effectiveness and modify plans accordingly. Act as an advocate, initiating actions to improve care plans and supporting change. Ensure safety protocols for electrical, laser, radiology, and MRI procedures. Follow correct site surgery and surgical time-out standards (Universal Protocol). Perform autoclave/Steris operations with proper documentation. Communicate effectively using SBAR during handoffs and regarding patient care. Document patient charges, implant records, pathology specimens, and preoperative data accurately and promptly. Utilize Cerner system for documentation and update preference cards as needed. Follow policies for instrument, sponge, and sharps counts. Practice respectful teamwork and delegation according to USCUH principles. Follow policies, Title 22, and JCAHO standards. Participate in professional development, including committees, research, policy review, and quality improvement projects. Maintain current knowledge of policies, trends, and technology in surgical nursing. Apply knowledge of surgical anatomy and procedures to prepare equipment, supplies, and instrumentation. Maintain and organize specialty carts and ensure surgical suites are prepared daily. Facilitate smooth surgical flow by preparing updated preference cards and equipment knowledge. Engage in hospital and departmental quality improvement activities. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN). Grandfathered BSN applies if hired before 12/2019. At least 1 year of operating room nursing experience in an acute setting. Excellent communication skills in English (spoken, reading, writing). Knowledge of medical procedures, conditions, and duties including blood collection and apheresis, following policies and regulations. Preferred Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications

Valid California Registered Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City); must be obtained within 30 days if not already held. Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association. The hourly rate ranges from $44.00 to $95.00, considering experience, responsibilities, and other factors. #J-18808-Ljbffr
