The Commodity Inspection Division provides unbiased third-party inspections for a wide variety of Washington State agricultural products and assists agricultural companies in the movement and exporting of their products. The division is made up of roughly 365 FTEs through four statewide programs: Fruit and Vegetable Inspection, Grain Inspection, Grain Warehouse Audit, and Seed Inspection and Certification. The Grain Inspection Program provides sampling, weighing, quality testing, grade inspection, and phytosanitary services for grains and commodities to assist in the facilitation of grain movement. These services are available to the grain, commodity trade and other interested parties on request, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week at all our inspection offices located in Seattle, Tacoma, Aberdeen, Longview, Kalama, Vancouver, Spokane, or Colfax. WSDA is recruiting a full-time Program Coordinator within the Commodity Inspection Division. This position is located in Tacoma, Washington and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The typical starting salary range for this position is:

$43,980 - $57,252 annually . What to Expect

Some of the various responsibilities within these roles: Utilize knowledge and information required by the federal cooperative agreement, assembles and processes federal inspection certificates and documents. Responsible for auditing certificates for variance from federal inspection standards. Audit information for accuracy and completion to ensure compliance on submitted inspection certificates. Utilize federal on-line certification software to issue export certificates. Check the paperwork of other inspection staff within the region before certificates are issued. Use CRT to input inspection data and generate export grain certificates. Use AgTrax to input inspection data and generate domestic grain certificates. Apply a basic understanding and knowledge of the Grain inspection process and ability to correctly associate required documents with each type of inspection. Provide information and explanations regarding grain inspection services to program staff and customers. Work closely with the company representative to ensure inspection certificates are completed according to export deadlines. Respond to phone and email inquiries regarding inspection requirements. Responsible for document inventory and records incoming and outgoing billing documents. Required:

One (1) year experience interpreting and applying laws, rules and standards, data processing, auditing, reconciling, or budgeting work. Special Requirements:

Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid WA State Driver's License to utilize state motor pool vehicles. Obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of hire date. Obtain USDA E-Authentication (federal background check to use agency database) within 30 days of hire date. Preferred/Desired:

Experience with and knowledge of state government organization and administrative procedures, federal and local government functions and office procedures. Employee Benefits
