Your Opportunity

Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Commercial and Industrial Buildings practice that provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, and Interior Design services with a long history and deep commitment to the commercial sector. We are seeking a Project Manager to join our buildings practice.

As a senior contributor on our professional Buildings team, you will work independently to assist clients through the planning and creation of fiscally responsible, cutting edge designs. Your experience ensures that you are familiar with construction plans, specifications, estimates and building codes. You will be innovating and creating new prototypes designed with sustainable products with green architecture sensibility as your goal. You will lead the development of integrated design proposals, develop and manage integrated work plans, manage project financials, and coordinate with clients, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables as required under instruction from the Project Leader.

Responsibilities

Responsible for managing complex tasks on medium to large size projects.

Plan, organize, and direct the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.

Keep the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverables and understand the limits of the decision-making responsibilities of the role and respect the boundaries of the Principal in Charge’s responsibilities.

Lead the client and project team to assure that the project design meets the client budget, schedule, program, and design intent. Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.

Lead the technical portion of the project including discipline coordination and providing technical direction to the design team including building codes and regulatory requirements, in collaboration with the Project Architect.

Assist in the negotiation and development of project agreements.

Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance and participate in constructability reviews with the design team if needed.

Mentor Assistant Project Managers and motivate project teams.

Ensure timely completion and proper documentation of Project Management Framework tasks.

Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members, external consultants, owner, contractor, and sub-contractors.

In collaboration with the Project Architect, manage the construction administration phase, including reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFIs, preparing site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.

Manage and track change orders, applications for payment by contractors, and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.

Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects as required.

Work with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel.

Direct client invoicing and effectively manage collections.

Strong Revit skills; familiarity with clash coordination strategies is a plus.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Project Support & Leadership: Capable of supporting one or more Principals in Charge across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with goals, timelines, and client expectations.

Code & Standards Expertise: Thorough understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.

Initiative & Independence: Proactive and able to take action without continuous oversight.

Time & Priority Management: Able to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities while maintaining quality.

Collaborative Teamwork: Works well with clients, internal teams, and contractors.

Communication & Negotiation: Strong communicator and negotiator, able to articulate ideas and resolve conflicts professionally.

Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office and Newforma; preferred experience with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field

Professional Licensure a plus, but not required

Minimum of 10 years of experience with a history in industrial, transit or city buildings

LEED Green Associate or LEED AP a plus

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range and Benefits Locations in WA, DC & Various CA areas - Min Salary $119,300.00 - Max Salary $179,000.00. Pay transparency: final compensation depends on education, qualifications, experience, and location. Some roles are bonus eligible. Benefits include medical, dental, vision plans, wellness programs, 401(k), stock purchase program, life/AD&D, disability, paid time off, holidays, and more. Some benefits may vary by employee type and location.
