Job Description
Maintain and encourage a safe work environment.
Understand and follow the AAR, FRA rules and regulations.
Understand and comply with quality assurance and Q.C. guidelines.
Participate in AAR audits as required for shop re-certification.
Good communication skills with employees, supervisors, corporate office personnel, vendors and subcontractors.
Maintain and update the Quality Assurance Manual as required.
Provide AAR updates to employees and supervisors as needed.
Evaluate job standards and completed car folders for documentation.
Understand AAR billing and prepare billing repair cards.
Provide training and certifications for outlined job duties.
Prepare and update repair procedures.
Prepare Joint Inspection Certificates and Billing Repair Cards.
Prepare and submit the required documentation to the AAR.
Welder qualifications and documentation.
Maintain gauge and equipment certifications.
Inspections for inbound, outbound cars.
Inspections of parts received for inventory.
Surveillance on subcontractors providing service on railcars.
Ensure materials supplied by outside companies meet AAR requirements or specifications.
Identify non-conforming materials and document as required.
Ensure all required documentation is completed before the car is outbounded.
Follow directions and understand the work, OSHA and safety procedures.
Assist in safety training for hourly employees.
Fill in as Operation Manager during vacancy.
Ability to train and motivate employees performing job tasks.
Job Requirements
College degree or 5-10 years experience involving the repair of tank car tanks and freight cars.
NACE certification is recommended but not required.
ASNT certifications in UT, PT, MT, VT and AWS CWI preferred but not required.
General knowledge of the Field Manual of the AAR Interchange Rules.
General knowledge of the AAR MSRP M-1002 and M-1003 regulations.
Excellent leadership, problem solving, self‑motivation, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Confident and courteous manner.
Established leadership skills.
Strong commitment to employee safety.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Position requires standing and walking for long periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working with tools, working within close‑confined spaces, and working within extreme temperatures.
Compensation The pay range for this position is expected to be between
$70,400.00
-
$131,300.00 .
The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus and a salaried incentive plan.
