Quality Improvement Specialist

Nuvance Health . Description Summary: The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure patient safety and the strategic deployment of patient safety initiatives. Plans, implements, and manages initiatives that decrease the risk of safety occurrences based on incident reporting and ongoing monitoring. Supports patient safety and quality improvement activities to identify opportunities and improve patient care across the assigned departments. Responsibilities Ensure quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance for assigned clinical departments. Conduct data analyses using process improvement methods to promote efficiency, safety, revenue, satisfaction, and quality. Coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient safety initiatives and harm-reduction activities, making recommendations based on analysis. Facilitate projects with organizational impact. Manage all aspects of the Peer Review process, collaborating with Peer Review Committee Chairs for appropriate case referral and review. Interpret and ensure adherence to Joint Commission, state, and federal standards. Promote safety programs through presentations, staff education, and educational materials. Collaborate with the Patient Safety/Risk Management office to identify risks and improvement opportunities. Conduct Risk Assessments, Failure Mode and Effects Analyses, and Root Cause Analyses to identify safety threats and implement corrective actions. Handle patient relation activities as directed by the Site Director of Quality. Conduct research and collaborate with outside agencies on initiatives. Maintain confidentiality of encountered information. Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position. Perform other duties as assigned. Other Information Required: Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience. CPHQ preferred. Master's degree or equivalent is desirable. Working Conditions Manual skills/motor coordination required. Little or no occupational risk. Sedentary/light effort, exerting up to 10 lbs. force. Generally pleasant working conditions.
