Lead Product Manager, Risk & Compliance (Customer Onboarding) at BILL The Risk & Compliance team is the backbone of BILL’s trusted payment ecosystem. We are looking for a Lead Product Manager to own the onboarding experience — the most crucial first impression for our customers. This role focuses on building and optimizing product capabilities that enable safe, fast, and seamless onboarding while maintaining robust controls in a complex regulatory landscape. What You'll Do
Own the Onboarding Risk Strategy: Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for all risk and compliance controls within the customer onboarding journey, from initial sign-up to full platform access. Build a Seamless & Secure Experience: Lead cross-functional pods of engineers, designers, and data scientists to launch and iterate on features for identity verification (IDV), Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), and initial fraud screening. Balance Speed and Safety: Use data-driven insights to optimize metrics related to customer drop-off, time-to-onboard, and risk-decision accuracy, reducing friction for good customers while strengthening defenses against bad actors. Partner Across the Business: Collaborate with Operations, Legal, and Go-to-Market teams to ensure solutions are compliant and operationally efficient while supporting business growth. Stay Ahead of the Curve: Monitor evolving fintech regulation, fraud tactics, and identity solutions to proactively address risks and plan for the future. Communicate with Impact: Present roadmap, decisions, and performance results to stakeholders and executive leadership. Qualifications
A Deep Background in Onboarding: 6+ years in product management with significant focus on risk and compliance in customer onboarding, including KYC and identity verification. Fintech or Payments Risk Expertise: Experience in risk/compliance within payments, lending, or fintech; understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., BSA/AML) and common fraud vectors. Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills with ability to use data and user research to identify opportunities and drive strategy. Exceptional Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships (Legal, Compliance, Operations). Problem-Solver Mindset: Comfort navigating ambiguity and delivering solutions in a fast-paced environment. What’s in it for you
