About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing in our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid.
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer. This position will be based at Wendell, NC.
Relocation assistance is available.
Responsibilities
Work with engineering project team to create/modify all electrical drawings for customer approval and manufacturing of Medium Voltage switchgear. Typical drawings include:
One line diagrams
Panel arrangement
Nameplate schedule
Electrical schematics
Three line drawings
Wiring diagrams
Utilize the AUTOCAD/Engineering Base software to prepare drawing packages with a high degree of accuracy.
Initiate effective quality audits in both technical and procedural aspects to ensure high precision drawings are transferred to manufacturing facility and customer.
Utilize knowledge of various electrical CAD software to complete project work and drive efficiency with process improvements.
Be a technical project leader taking full ownership of the overall project design.
Provide factory support during the manufacturing of respective projects to ensure the final deliverable is true to the customer design.
Lead efforts to improve team processes and tools to drive up overall team efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
3+ years of proven experience working with the design/configuration electrical power distribution products and systems.
3+ years of Electrical CAD design/drafting experience in protection & control or engineering.
Strong working knowledge of standard protection & control technologies used in medium voltage power distribution products.
Ability to analyze customer’s technical specifications regarding the application of protection & control systems and apply appropriate product solutions to meet the customers’ expectations in cost-effective and timely manner.
Ability to read, understand and evaluate electrical schematics to identify errors or potential improvements.
Interest and experience in leading quality audits in both technical and procedural aspects of electrical drawing packages to drive high precision outputs to manufacturing facility and customer.
Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done on time and with high quality.
Ability to multitask and manage large workloads.
Strong written, verbal, mathematical, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Proven ability to create, convert & modify drawings with AutoCAD Electrical or Engineering Base software.
Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for MV Switchgear.
Experience with electrical design for medium voltage switchgear, especially Siemens Switchgear.
Experience programming in VBA.
Experience working with macro creation, modification or revision in AutoCAD or Engineering Base.
Experience in process improvement of drawing creation and revision.
Salary: $73,500 – $126,000
