University of Utah Health This position is the senior level position responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the assigned building, performing routine and preventative maintenance, analyzing and repairing mechanical and electrical problems, and ensuring the continuous and safe functioning of the healthcare physical environment. It functions under the guidance of a team lead or above and is not responsible for providing direct patient care. Responsibilities include: Performing duties of Maintenance Engineer I and II. Procurement of parts and equipment. Using the CMMS system for asset management, work orders, and compliance reporting. Mentoring general maintenance workers and engineers. Completing required after-hours on-call rotations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Understanding of NFPA 101 life safety code, DNV NIAHO standards, and fire safety systems. Knowledge of hot water systems, boiler and chiller theory, fire barrier and NFPA requirements, medical gases control, and CMS functions. Proficiency in basic computer functions and ability to read blueprints. Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work independently or in groups. Ability to participate in after-hours on-call rotation. Minimum Qualifications: Six years of hands-on maintenance and repair experience in relevant areas. At least three certifications or licenses in related trades or safety standards. Valid Utah Driver's License may be required depending on department. Preferred Qualifications: Healthcare-related maintenance and repair experience. Physical Demands: This role involves physical work, including lifting up to 100 pounds, moving heavy equipment, and exposure to mechanical, electrical, or chemical hazards.
