Summary The Field Engineer supports the execution and delivery of solar construction projects. Responsibilities include logistics, inspections, tool management, drawing review, superintendent support, and coordination of project-based personnel and craft trades to align with Qcells’ project delivery standards of excellence.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
Work directly with site solar superintendent and project managers to implement project goals.
Assist with assigning duties to staff to support project execution.
Oversee variable project aspects and provide direct assistance to ensure timely execution.
Coordinate with construction manager, project manager, and other project leads.
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the construction team has required materials.
Communicate delays and issues to leadership and clients.
Complete tasks assigned by Regional Manager efficiently.
Identify safety concerns and conduct safety inspections.
Maintain crew production schedule; lead safety toolbox talks.
Identify punch lists and observations from previous week.
Prepare all close‑out documents and QA/QC checklists.
Attend weekly project meetings and discuss change events, staff and subcontractor performance.
Perform quality control inspections, documentation, and electronic submissions.
Manage crew oversight and compliance with Job Hazard Analysis and site‑specific safety plan.
Travel up to 100% and work overtime and weekends as required.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
Experience in the construction industry preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Proven ability to generate and deliver project reports.
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and efficient.
Familiarity with standard field concepts, practices, and procedures.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and be proactive.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Familiarity with Procore or similar project management software.
Physical Demands
Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairways; maintain balance on ladders.
Kneel, crouch, crawl; work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
Walk continuously while carrying 50 lb tools or materials; may need assistance.
Stand or walk for prolonged periods; work in uneven surfaces.
Work Environment
Regular professional office business setting.
Noise level ranges from low to moderate in office; moderate to high at construction sites.
Mobility Barriers
Uneven ground level, obstructed pathways, low and/or high elevations, confined areas.
Climatic Conditions at Job Site
Predominately outdoor climate.
Exposure to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain.
Noise from tools, machinery; potential exposure to chemical substances.
Work around hazardous equipment.
