Accuracy Control Engineer

AC Engineers are responsible for providing dimensional documents to production personnel, reviewing the As-Built dimensional data, providing data interpretation as compared to the approved engineering drawings and archiving the dimensional data per contractual requirements. AC Engineers perform dimensional surveillances, foundation inspections and serve as the Quality Assurance oversight of dimensional accuracy of the ship build from start to completion. AC Engineers utilize various surveying methods including Laser Tracker, Scanners and Total Stations to capture, collect and analyze dimensional data. The information gathered is used to develop reports and for providing recommendations for improving overall production efficiency. AC Engineers support the development of dimensional data collection processes, evaluate trends for areas of improvement and provide solutions to out of tolerance structural assemblies. AC Engineers monitor compliance with quality assurance/accuracy control work instructions and procedures, provide measurement training to production personnel and make improvements to measurement methods, techniques and processes. AC Engineering is under the direction of the Senior Accuracy Control Engineer and is an integral part of the Quality Assurance Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Collect, monitor, analyze and store dimensional data following Company and contractual requirements. Prepare dimensional data for formal presentations and reports. Support the development of processes, practices, guidelines, and procedures to collect, execute, monitor, control, and improve dimensional accuracy. Provide guidance and training to production personnel on proper measurement methods. Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures. Participate in regular interface meetings with Waterfront Engineering, Structural Engineering, Methods Engineering, Production Supervision and other departments within the organization as necessary to support the development of improved methods for production efficiency. Maintain daily communication with production leads and personnel regarding QA/AC processes and work instructions. Resolve dimensional out of tolerance issues with Waterfront Engineering as they arise. Attend Module Readiness Reviews (MRR) and provide the As-Built documents and/or reports. Attend software, equipment training and seminars when directed. Develop dimensional data worksheets from AutoCAD drawings for production use. Utilize Laser Trackers and Scanners, Total Stations, Auto Levels and other devices to capture and analyze dimensional data. (Training will be provided on Company equipment and software) As a member of the Quality Assurance Department: Participate in Audits, Surveillances and Callouts as directed. SKILLS
Assess dimensional controls necessary to achieve desired product configuration. Understand and use statistical methods to discover root/core problems and demonstrate process control. Have the ability to use AutoCAD (2D and 3D) and 3D model information included in ShipConstructor models to validate record dimensions. Read and understand structural drawings. Collect, organize, and evaluate, and chart dimensional data. Understand tolerances, allowances, and recognize relevant geometry control characteristics. Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills. Must have strong organizational and time management skills. Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills. Must have ability to maintain confidentiality. OR High School Diploma/GED and 6+ years of acceptable experience in: Shipbuilding (Welding and Fabrication) Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) P2P Measuring Devices and Surveying Equipment Operation Quality Assurance and Accuracy Control Representative General Construction as well as those involving Production Supervision/Management Other skills not listed may be acceptable but evaluation will be on a case-by-case basis.
