The Electrical Power Engineer should have experience in the utility-scale power and renewable energy sectors, capable of supporting power generation design projects and leading multiple engineering tasks simultaneously. The candidate should have expertise in power generation and distribution, renewable energy, protection and motor control design, power system studies, and equipment specification development. Knowledge or interest in renewables and battery energy storage systems (BESS) is highly desirable. The role also involves mentoring engineers, client relationship development, and supporting marketing activities like proposal writing and project planning. Experience with power plant systems as an engineer of record is required. Preferred Qualifications Protection and control design, including setting calculations and electronic files development Instrumentation and Controls, especially with DCS and PLC systems Field experience, including startup and commissioning Experience with renewable energy projects (PV, BESS, microgrids) Previous experience with an engineering power consulting firm Willingness to grow into leadership roles Knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection, control design, grounding, and related activities Proficiency in Microsoft Office and power sector design software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, CYMCAD, PSCAD, etc.) Ability to conduct work sessions, project meetings, and participate in reviews and site activities Experience in developing project schematics, specifications, and coordinating with disciplines Ability to manage addenda, RFIs, change orders, JSAs, and incorporate changes into documents Conduct QA/QC on work of others Active participation in our employee-owned culture #LI-MV3 Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector Proficiency in Microsoft Office and power sector design software (e.g., PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit) Active participation in our employee-owned culture What We Believe HDR is built on collaboration, trust, and community.
