Electrical Engineer - Power Generation

Key Responsibilities
Design power generation projects and lead multiple engineering initiatives, balancing design, documentation, and administration tasks.
Develop power system studies, protection and motor‑control designs, renewable energy integration, and balance‑of‑plant elements (raceway, lighting, grounding).
Support renewable energy and battery energy storage system (BESS) markets.
Mentor junior engineers, contribute to client relationships, and participate in proposal writing, fee building, and work‑breakdown structure development.
Provide engineering expertise for power plant systems and perform related duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or reciprocity ability.
Experience in protection & control design, including setting calculations and electronic file development.
Instrumentation & controls expertise with DCS and PLC systems.
Field experience with startup, commissioning, and operation of renewable energy projects (PV, BESS, DER, microgrid).
Previous consulting experience and desire to grow into a team‑lead or section‑manager role.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and industry software such as ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, CYMCAD, PSCAD, or equivalent.
Strong commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture and collaborative values.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Active professional engineering license or intent to obtain one.
Project execution experience within the power market sector.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and power‑sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
