What To Expect
The Production Manager will lead a high-volume manufacturing team at Megafactory Texas located in Brookshire, TX. They will oversee multiple areas (Module Lines, Bento, Qbert) and shifts (AWS), ensuring safe and quality production of Tesla Qberts supporting our mission to help accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. A successful candidate will be able to develop their leaders and organizations, establishing a culture of ownership, accountability, and world-class manufacturing. The ability to continuously drive results through strategic cross-functional collaboration and communication in a high-pressure, demanding environment is essential.
This role will be based out of the Greater Houston Area (TX) however could require 90% travel to work in the Bay Area (CA) to support early builds and validation support for the first 6 to 12 months. Travel plans and reimbursement will follow Tesla’s Travel Policy and will be governed by the direct manager.
What You'll Do
Build and lead a motivated production team to consistently deliver high-quality products, meeting aggressive targets across all shifts and value streams
Maintain high product quality, manufacturing yield, and safety standards while optimizing resource use and adhering to best practices, fostering a culture of accountability
Ensure standardized work practices and consistency across production teams, supported by effective training and workforce development
Monitor and assess Safety, People, Quality, Rate, and Cost through KPIs and drive continuous improvement
Partner with Design, Engineering, Quality, HR, and Maintenance to resolve issues, enhance product manufacturability, and boost line productivity
Oversee Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) functions, including training, incident documentation, and proactive hazard correction, while empowering team-driven improvements
Support Lean manufacturing, 5S initiatives, root cause investigations, and professional development of managerial and supervisory teams to sustain a learning-focused environment
What You'll Bring
5 years minimum, 10+ years preferred experience managing organizations in a high-volume manufacturing setting; Battery Module, Bento, and Qbert experience preferred
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business or Technical discipline, evidence of exceptional experience, or equivalent experience
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, organized, and able to pro-actively communicate with all employees and works well in a fast-paced multi-cultural environment
Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands, tight deadlines, 24/7 availability
Communicate succinctly using excellent written and verbal skills
Experience with process improvement methodologies (6 sigma, lean, 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.) to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Highly experienced with MS Office programs (Outlooks, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and creating business proposals and executive summaries
