role at Celanese. Overview Celanese Washington Works rests on the banks of the Ohio River in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The facility began manufacturing here in 1948 and is among the largest Celanese manufacturing facilities worldwide with six different plants located on the 700‑acre site. Celanese annually manufactures millions of pounds of product used in automotive, food, building/construction, and household applications. The Advanced Specialist, Production plays a key role in optimizing the internal supply chain and material flow while supporting plant capacity increases and utilization improvement projects. This role acts as the gatekeeper for the schedulers, ensuring the acceptance of the production schedule and serving as the essential conduit between production and scheduling teams. The specialist actively identifies scheduling improvement opportunities and collaborates with schedulers to enforce compliance with crucial scheduling rules, including windows for raw material receipt, minimum batch sizes, production wheels, sequencing, schedule breaks, and changeover rules. Responsibilities Assist and provide direction to maintenance resources with equipment troubleshooting to mitigate downtime. Perform unit/equipment walkdowns and communicate with Process Experts to identify emerging risks. Work with Manufacturing Experts to prioritize work orders and ensure priority work is completed in a timely manner. Ensure units are ready for scheduled maintenance work to optimize the maintenance schedule. Walk down critical jobs and ensure isolation plans are adequate. Provide leadership and coaching in safety to uphold safety standards and requirements. Coordinate with Asset Leader on needed resources for maintenance breakers. Work with Production Planning to provide direction to Total Productive Maintenance crew on upcoming turnarounds. Engage with supply chain to ensure awareness of production schedule challenges, including planned maintenance outages, raw material concerns, unplanned downtime, and ongoing scheduling tolerances. Ensure production runs are scheduled with accurate inputs for rates, operating schedule tolerance, and changeover time. Continuously monitor throughput and production to ensure adherence to schedule and commitments. Detect and anticipate emerging issues that will affect productivity and the schedule; collect and analyze required metrics and provide short‑term/long‑term plans to address process gaps. Facilitate kaizen events and actions to improve efficiency, reliability, and reduce unplanned downtime and changeover times. Collaborate with Asset Leader to set priority for equipment repairs and communicate to appropriate stakeholders. Communicate issues or barriers with production schedule or material containment. Generate ideas for improvement and support implementation of process improvements. Support MT area specifications for material handling and compliance for IATF 13485 procedures. Qualifications High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree or higher preferred. 1–3 years in manufacturing operations. Experience with SAP Work Order Process. Knowledge of maintenance processes and techniques. Problem‑solving skills. Strong communication skills; ability to collaborate with other departments. Working knowledge of MS Office. Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills. Ability to negotiate.
