Brief Description
The Manufacturing Engineer performs a variety of engineering tasks to develop, test, implement, and document manufacturing processes and methods. The work is done both on the production floor and in an office setting, and it is completed in accordance with product specifications, customer requirements, quality standards, and all required governmental laws and safety standards.
Essential Functions
Troubleshoots routine to moderately complex production problems involving continuous manufacturing processes, investigates root causes, and recommends countermeasures.
Conducts routine to moderately complex engineering trials and production process evaluations, analyzes production data, identifies trends and improvement opportunities, and recommends process adjustments to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency while reducing material and manpower costs.
Creates, writes, and maintains standard work instructions.
Develops, tests, implements, and documents manufacturing processes for new and existing parts and/or products.
Prepares training materials and trains key production employees and supervisors on new work procedures and manufacturing processes.
Examines manufacturing processes for cost‑reducing automation opportunities and leads implementation of approved projects.
Supports existing factory automation, including software, controls, mechanical and hydraulic systems.
Estimates manufacturing costs, process time, and manpower requirements and consolidates, documents, and presents results for review.
Conducts research, compiles data, prepares reports, and delivers presentations.
Reports to work prepared and on time.
Supports the mission of the organization and adheres to all company policies.
Works with the engineering team to complete capital projects on time and within budget.
Performs other duties as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 4+ years of post‑graduate experience in a continuous process manufacturing engineering environment.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to satisfy the requisite qualifications of the job.
Must possess the ability to draft in 3D; SolidWorks experience preferred.
Working knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to the production of various products.
Working knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
Very good analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and presentation skills; strong math skills; intermediate skills in Excel and other application software used in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
Programming and robotic experience preferred but not required.
Demonstrates the ability to safely work with basic hand tools or machining equipment.
Physical Work Conditions 50 – 50 split between office and plant work environment.
