Position:
The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Experienced or Senior Structural Analysis Engineer (Level 3 or Level 4) to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Responsibilities (Level 3)
Develops, integrates, and documents structural requirements to validate Airframe Stress design and Finite Element Modelling and Loadcase assessment.
Verifies structural integrity by defining requirements for development of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop the airframe structural environment, characteristics, and performance of the product.
Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle.
Understands industry best practices in airframe primary structure and loadpaths.
Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate compliance.
Supports in‑service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
Works under general direction.
Works with customers and regulatory agencies to define and maintain certification processes that will ensure requirements are met.
Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the analysis and repair efforts.
Oversees compliance with methodology and processes for stress analysis and finite element modelling.
Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements.
Works under consultative direction.
Understands the unique challenges of working a Legacy program that was originally certified using 2D drawings, in contrast to a new development program which is purely Model Based.
Responsibilities (Level 4)
Leads development, integration and documentation of structural requirements to establish the system design.
Verifies structural integrity by defining requirements for development of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools.
Develops and uses Finite Element Models.
Understands proper application of loads in FEMs.
Understands industry best practices in airframe primary structure and loadpaths.
Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle.
Leads development of test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results.
Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the analysis and repair efforts.
Ensures compliance with methodology and processes for stress analysis, DaDT analysis, and finite element modelling in the accomplishment of work.
Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate compliance.
Supports in‑service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements.
Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
Works under minimal direction.
Location:
The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Security Clearance:
The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post‑Start is required.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
Experience with Nastran/Patran Finite Element Models (FEM).
Able to independently construct, execute, review, and manage structural finite element models.
5 or more years of experience in structural analysis.
Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Active U.S. Secret Clearance.
Experience with Hypermesh, Abaqus CAE, and/or Nastran.
Experience validating or verifying finite element model results and/or through a test program.
Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills.
Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques).
Experience with Aircraft Primary Structures on Boeing Commercial Derivatives – Commercial and/or Military applications (737, 747, 757, 767 & 777).
Experience with supporting structural NCR analysis in a fast‑paced aircraft build environment.
Experience with Boeing Structural analysis methods and tools.
Experience with structural certification through FAA.
Experience with LRU/equipment qualification.
