Assembly Technician - Electrical & Mechanical
New Orleans, LA Contract Position $24.67-$34.54/Hour Support aircraft and avionics assembly by performing basic mechanical and electrical tasks including wiring, tooling, drilling, and harnessing—ideal for entry-level candidates with hands-on aptitude.
Responsibilities
Perform machine setup, machining, wiring, and electrical verification tasks under guidance.
Assemble, modify, repair, and install wire harnesses and avionics components using hand and power tools.
Prepare test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices for various engineering or quality tests.
Use tools such as power drills, torque wrenches, screwdrivers, adhesives, and brackets for basic mechanical and electrical builds.
Participate in up to 3–4 weeks of on-the-job training, tailored to incoming experience level.
Work will be assigned to either electrical or mechanical tasks based on skill and staffing needs.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and 1+ year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, components, and tools.
Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, wires, machines, or adhesives.
Technically inclined and eager to learn on the job.
Eye exam required for electrical-focused roles.
Must meet physical requirements:
Lift up to 15 lbs
May be required to wear a safety harness (max 350 lbs with gear)
May be subject to mask requirements (area dependent)
Crane certification may be obtained post-start.
