Overview

2026 Industrial Engineering Spring Co-op Program at UPS. The co-op position will be assigned to one of the following Industrial Engineering departments: Aircraft Maintenance IE, Air Region IE, Flight Operations IE, Gateway IE, or Fuel Analytics and Sustainability. Co-op Responsibilities

Identifies the impact of a problem on multiple areas of the business; recommends improvements to existing processes or programs. Identifies and implements process improvements collaborating with analysts, users, and project sponsors. Utilize work measurement, design data development, statistical analysis, and discussion with management and/or operations to identify issues and solutions that impact both short-term and long-term strategies. Distinct Functions Of Each Department

Aircraft Maintenance IE

Aircraft maintenance projects related to materials flow, staffing, time studies, and maintenance equipment.

Acmx Ie

Projects using ACMX data to create analysis/decision tools and reports using Power BI, Google Cloud Platform, SQL, Excel, etc.

Air Region IE

Ramp Special projects include evaluating opportunities with technology, new equipment or facility/process redesign to lower labor requirement or improve aircraft arrival time to destination.

Flight Operations IE

Flight IE supports flight district functions like pilot scheduling, pilot training, flight operations; projects include process improvement, staffing analysis, and data analysis for these groups.

Gateway Planning Building and Facilities IE

Supports facility planning and design projects at US Domestic Gateways. Responsibilities include facility and ramp design, facility expansion projects, leasehold improvements, and capacity management of facility sort engines; developing project feasibilities and dataset management; organizing and leading cross-functional teams; determining project financial feasibility or ROI.

Fuel Analytics and Sustainability IE

Work on 1-2 projects evaluating and/or executing a fuel efficiency initiative for UPS Airlines; communicate with other groups (Aircraft Maintenance, Ground Service Equipment, Pilots, Flight Dispatchers, Operations Supervisors); contribute towards sustainability goals by reducing jet fuel burn and carbon emissions.

Co-op Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from (within the last 24 months) an undergraduate Industrial Engineering or related program, seeking a Bachelor’s Degree or international equivalent Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook Strong interpersonal communication skills Sufficient and effective knowledge in programming and algorithms is desired, but not required Ability to work full time and in-person (40 hours/week) from our Louisville, KY site Program dates: 1/5/2026 - 5/1/2026 Employee Type
