Big Bend Community College (BBCC), a rural college serving the Columbia Basin of Central Washington, invites applications for an Aircraft Mechanic in the college's Aviation Program. Under general supervision, perform visual and manual inspections, maintenance and repair work on engine and engine components, fuel systems, control systems, propellers, landing gear, steering and brake systems, and airframe and structures on airplanes; inspect and maintain accessories and avionic testing equipment; assure compliance with manufacturer requirements and federal and state regulations. The position reports to the Director of Flight Operations and receives direction and guidance from the Aircraft Mechanic/Inspector Lead and Chief Pilot. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clean, repair, adjust and/or replace engine components, instrumentation and electrical systems; disassemble, clean, magnaflux and/or zyglo internal components, overhaul and reassemble engines; check components for serviceable limits in accordance with manufacturer specifications, and re-assemble components to airworthy condition. Repair cabin, wing, control surfaces, landing gear, and empennage; balance, rig, and adjust as needed. Perform 100-hour and annual inspections; perform operational checks of aircraft, engine, avionics equipment, and flight simulators; perform altimeter, static system and ATC transponder tests as required by FAA regulations. Test and calibrate avionics equipment; test gauges, controls, heating and ventilating systems, and repair swing compasses. Repair aircraft exterior and structure; perform metal fabrication, riveting, and welding; apply dope and fabric; apply plastics; prepare and paint aircraft surfaces, metals, and fabrics. Interpret and comply with FAA airworthiness directives, manufacturer’s letters, bulletins, and state directives. Request bid list from different manufacturers, order and inventory parts, prepare purchase requests. Sign off the appropriate logs and records, prepare reports as required to comply with state and FAA regulations. Additional Responsibilities
Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Ensure no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to, security and safety, understanding of SDS, equipment, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics. Ensure compliance with college policies and procedures and state and federal regulations. Conduct self in a professional manner and ensure interactions with team members and other support groups are courteous and efficient in line with the college's values. The repair and maintenance of Beechcraft Bonanza, Musketeer/Sport and/or Sundowner, Piper Seminole, Piper Warrior III, Citabria, Cessna 180 Amphibian aircraft, and Frasca 141, 142 simulators. Safe work practices. Microsoft Office, specifically MS Outlook. Duties of the Position: Ability

High School diploma or GED. Possession of a valid Airframe and Powerplant license as issued by the FAA. Possess recent single engine aircraft experience. Desirable Qualifications
