This position supports WCU's regional undergraduate engineering technology degree completion programs. The primary location is Asheville, NC with travel to multiple locations in Western North Carolina. The College of Engineering and Technology (CET) at WCU is growing; the university plans to expand engineering programs to meet regional and state needs. Our programs emphasize project-based learning, industry engagement, and undergraduate research. The role is 12-month fixed-term at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice (rank determined upon hire). This Asheville-based position will require teaching in the evenings using face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities. Travel within Western NC may be required. Anticipated begin date is January 2026. Successful candidates will be committed to teaching at the undergraduate level in one or more of the following areas: CAD, CAM, CNC, PLCs, Robotics, Automation, and Controls, Safety, Hydraulics and Pneumatics. There may be additional opportunities to teach at the graduate level. Responsibilities include supporting the program director of the distance program with tasks such as assessment, capstone projects, recruitment, program development and expansion, and other duties as assigned by the school director. A master’s degree in a related field of engineering and/or engineering technology prior to the start date. Three years of relevant industrial and/or academic experience. Preferred Qualifications

A PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a related field of engineering and/or engineering technology Academic collaboration with industry Knowledge and experience engaging with community colleges Experience with ABET assessment and accreditation processes Experience with recruitment, retention, and advising of students Position Details
