Position Overview The

Roasting and Production Lead

will oversee (with support from our Director of Operations) all aspects of coffee roasting, production, at our roastery. This role combines hands‑on roasting with production management—perfect for someone who thrives on both craft and systems thinking. You’ll supervise a small team of two production staff, maintain quality standards, and keep production running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Roasting & Quality Control

Execute and refine roast profiles to maintain consistent flavor and quality.

Conduct cuppings and calibrate for flavor, color, and development.

Log and track roast data using Cropster or similar platforms.

Production & Operations

Manage daily and weekly production schedules across two roasting lines.

Supervise and train production staff (packaging, labeling, order fulfillment).

Maintain efficiency, minimize waste, and ensure quality control at every stage.

Monitor and maintain roasting equipment and coordinate maintenance as needed.

Inventory & Sourcing

Track green coffee, packaging, and supply inventories.

Assist in green coffee ordering and vendor coordination.

Keep detailed records for production, inventory, and reporting.

Required Qualifications

1–2+ years of experience in a coffee roasting or production environment.

SCA Roasting Certificate or equivalent— or significant progress toward completion.

Strong understanding of roast theory, green coffee, and sensory evaluation.

Experience with production scheduling and quality assurance.

Ability to lead, train, and coordinate a small team effectively.

Bonus Qualifications

Familiarity with

Cropster

or similar roast management software.

Experience in inventory management, sourcing, or purchasing.

Basic mechanical or equipment maintenance skills.

Previous experience in a small business or startup environment.
