Overview
Construction Support Manager - Battery Storage Responsible for coordination of the construction on the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project including bids and proposals. Coordinates compliance with the schedule, safety, cost, and quality decisions in conjunction with the Project Field Manager. This role requires travel. Key Responsibilities
Provide the site construction teams the means, methods, and staffing to support construction of Battery Storage, Transmission Lines and substations. Help lead bids and proposals. Work with EH&S group to develop and maintain safety program associated with Battery Storage activities. Develop Craft Training and Certification program for lineman and groundman trades for Open-shop craft employees. Develop and maintain Construction procedures and quality programs for BESS work. Identify and source tooling and equipment necessary for installation of Transmission Lines. Identify and support recruiting of craft and leadership associated with the project work. Support BESS project proposals including staffing, equipment, and other quantities and costs to support estimate development. Lead and participate in design constructability reviews. Support subcontract developments as needed. Participate in project risk reviews and develop mitigation plans related to BESS construction. Assist site team in resolving issues related to drawings, schedule, quality, quantity tracking, cost reporting, and safety. Monitor productivity, progress, and cost; report to Operations Manager, Construction Manager and Project Controls Manager; take actions to meet targets. Develop corrective plans to ensure progress and productivity targets are met. Verify availability of equipment, materials, manpower, and resources to support the project schedule. Review timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests. Develop stable working relationships with Client and assigned subcontractors. Create and distribute Job Hazard Analyses for major erection packages within scope. Identify potential back charges and out-of-scope issues and report to Construction Manager. Support commercial recovery processes. Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management to direct reports. Adhere to safety and quality standards and support continuous improvement and change management related to improvements. Preferred Qualifications
Direct hire Open-shop Transmission Line/Substation and Battery Storage construction experience required. Proposal and Estimating experience within construction. Bachelor’s degree in construction or engineering; Battery Storage experience preferred. 3+ years of Construction Manager level experience; 8+ years with degree or 18+ years without degree in Battery Storage experience. Knowledge of project and department budget processes, project controls, risk assessment/management, and construction project management systems. Leadership, multi-tasking, presentation, problem solving, communication, and time/expense reporting skills. Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction or heavy industrial experience preferred, or relevant experience. 3+ years of construction management experience. Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records) in compliance with applicable laws. Work Environment / Physical Demands
Physical Demands: Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds. Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in varied environments. See and hear with or without correction; full range of motion; use hands to operate tools. Repetitive movements; may work above 5 feet; climb and balance on structures; long shifts up to 12 hours; exposure to temperature extremes and outdoor conditions. Work Environment: Typical construction site environment; cramped spaces; hot or cold temperatures; exposure to dust, wind, rain, and other weather; varying lighting conditions; noise; hazardous equipment.
