Construction Support Manager - Battery Storage Black & Veatch Corporation is a 100% employee‑owned company building sustainable infrastructure. We are looking for a Construction Support Manager to coordinate construction on BESS projects, manage bidding and proposals, and ensure schedule, safety, cost and quality compliance. This role requires frequent travel.

Key Responsibilities

Provide site construction teams with methods, staffing and support to construct Battery Storage, Transmission Lines and substations.

Lead bids and proposals and work with EH&S to develop and maintain safety programs.

Develop and maintain craft training and certification programs for lineman and groundman trades.

Maintain construction procedures and quality programs for BESS work.

Support sourcing of tooling and equipment for Transmission Line installation.

Recruit craft and leadership talent for the project.

Assist with project risk reviews and mitigation plans.

Resolve site issues, report on drawings, schedule, quality, quantity, cost and safety.

Monitor construction productivity and cost, report to Operations Manager, Construction Manager and Project Controls Manager.

Develop corrective plans to meet productivity targets.

Ensure equipment, material, manpower and resources are available and on site by the schedule.

Review timesheets, installed quantity reports and progress payment requests.

Build relationships with clients and subcontractors and provide site supervision and training.

Prepare job hazard analysis and identify back charges.

Support commercial recovery and continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct hire experience in Open‑shop Transmission Line/Substation and Battery Storage construction.

Proposal and estimating experience in construction.

Bachelor’s degree in construction or engineering; Battery Storage experience preferred.

3+ years of construction management experience at the manager level.

8+ years with a degree (or 18+ years without) in Battery Storage.

Knowledge of project budget processes and tools.

Risk assessment and management skills.

Strong project controls, budgeting, communication and presentation skills.

Leadership, coaching, mentoring and change‑management abilities.

Multitasking, problem‑solving and project management skills.

Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in construction or heavy industrial experience, or relevant experience.

3+ years of construction management experience.

Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen, motor vehicle record).

Work Environment / Physical Demands Physical Demands:

Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 lbs.

Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move and walk long distances in confined spaces.

Handle tools and equipment, repetitive movement, and work above 5 ft.

Climb ladders, scaffolds and steel framework.

Work up to a 12‑hour shift in varying temperatures.

Work Environment:

Typical construction site; cramped spaces, extreme temperatures.

Exposure to dust, wind, snow, rain, bright or low lighting, noise.

Work around hazardous equipment; physically safety‑sensitive position.

Typical office environment.

Salary and Benefits Salary range: $144,000–$201,000 (Texas); $200,000–$220,000 (Austin); $125,000–$165,000 (Houston).
