About The Role This role blends the fun and connections of year-round planning with the energy of a fully immersive summer environment, creating meaningful experiences for campers, staff, and families alike. As the Assistant Director, you'll be the heart of Camp Victor, ensuring smooth operations and an engaging environment for campers and staff. You'll combine hands-on program delivery with essential leadership in planning, coordination, and staff support. This 12-month, full-time position offers a unique blend of academic year preparation and immersive summer camp action!
What You’ll Do
Lead the development and oversight of our flagship day camp, Camp Victor, configuring activity rotations, special events, and scheduling. Plan and facilitate large group activities. Assist with seasonal staff recruitment, hiring, and retention, building a fantastic team. Provide guidance and mentorship to both staff and our Counselors-in-Training (CITs). Be the primary point of contact for parent communications, from registration to troubleshooting. Keep our camp community connected and informed. Assist with daily logistics, tracking, scheduling updates, and ensuring the smooth operation of camp activities. Handle tasks from data entry and event setups to inventory management. Provide timely support for staff logistics and ensure proper use of facilities. Support budget adherence, supply procurement, and credit card reconciliations. Help manage camper behavior, resolve staff issues, and address parental concerns with tact and professionalism.
What You Bring
A Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Education, Hospitality, Recreation, Child Development, or a related field). Prior office or summer camp experience is a huge plus! Proficiency with registration systems and Google Suite. Willingness to learn new tools like Squarespace, Adobe Illustrator, and AI. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. A master of organization and attention to detail. The ability to thrive independently and as part of a collaborative team. A passion for working with children and a commitment to their safety and well-being.
Working Conditions and Environment
Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds. Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity. Frequently talk and hear. Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders. Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold. Long or odd hours, as needed.
