AmeriCorps Support river management through recurring education programming, public summer events, project development and tracking, and field assistance. The Watershed Engagement Coordinator will provide environmental education and public summer events, assist with the Native Tree nursery, and expand reach and programs of Missisquoi River Basin Association (MRBA) and Upper Missisquoi and Trout River (UMATR) Wild and Scenic Committee. MRBA aims to restore and maintain the ecological integrity of the Missisquoi River system so that the uses and values desired by the community are supported by the waterways and the quality of their waters. The Upper Missisquoi and Trout Rivers Wild & Scenic Committee’s mission is to collaborate with our partners and the communities that the rivers run through and are adjacent to, in order to promote, protect, and enhance the rivers and their resources, and to support good river management. This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach to creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. This position is Full Time: Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 47 weeks. Member will receive a living and housing allowance of $30,500 (pre-tax), as well as an education award of $7,395 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Member Duties : Coordinate and deliver educational programming to school students focused on watershed and river sciences in relation to the landscape of Vermont. Support and collaborate with staff on watershed project development and tracking using ArcGIS mapping. Maintain Native Nursery and coordinate with Native Tree Nursery Manager to develop future programming. Assist MRBA and UMATR staff in field activities such as riparian corridor tree planting, tree survival surveys, stream assessments with landowners, restoration site monitoring, and other field maintenance related activities as needed. Participate in an Independent Service Project under the guidance of VHCB AmeriCorps Participate in all VHCB AmeriCorps Trainings, Service Days, Events, and Program Initiatives.
