Overview
This is an AmeriCorps position with the Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District (WCNRCD) as part of the VHCB AmeriCorps program. The role supports conservation outreach and education to increase implementation of conservation practices in Windham County, Vermont. The position is full-time for 47 weeks (1,720 hours) with a living allowance and education award upon successful completion. Some nights and weekends may be required. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required (mileage provided). Responsibilities
Implement a community engagement plan; develop recommendations for revisions based on feedback from the prior year. Develop and distribute WCNRCD outreach materials to raise public awareness of best practices in water quality, soil health, flood resiliency and related initiatives through e-newsletters, social media, and other platforms. Plan and implement public outreach at community events via tabling and the interactive stream table. Lead WCNRCD’s stakeholder engagement and public survey. Attend and represent WCNRCD at partner organization and municipal meetings, sharing information and collecting feedback. Participate in an Independent Service Project under VHCB AmeriCorps guidance and participate in VHCB AmeriCorps trainings and events. Qualifications & Skills
Education level: High school diploma/GED. Age requirement: Minimum 17, Maximum 99. Skills: Community Organization, Team Work, Environment, Communications, Leadership, Public Speaking, Writing/Editing. Ability to work independently and collaboratively; willingness to serve with some flexibility for hours. Program Details & Benefits
