Maintenance Supervisor
— Springfield, IL Growing and well established company with multiple manufacturing locations has an exciting opportunity in the Springfield, IL area for a Maintenance Supervisor. This position will have 3 direct reports. Main functions: This role is responsible for coordinating maintenance employees to complete preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, and replacements to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. Ensures parts and equipment are available to perform maintenance duties. Responsible for adhering to annual maintenance budget, negotiating contracts, and maintaining and improving facilities. This position also oversees the general upkeep and maintenance of the facility to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.
Responsibilities
Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations and ISO 9001 requirements.
Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
Track and maintain electronic records on all maintenance and repairs to machines and facility.
Control maintenance budget and spending.
Set working hours for department and obtain approval through Plant Manager
Direct and delegate workload to maintenance personnel.
Purchasing parts and equipment for maintenance department.
Assists in establishing annual maintenance budget.
Oversees capital budget projects related to maintenance.
Acquire and maintain all required state and local permits on an annual basis.
Oversee building and facility maintenance, including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and grounds as required.
Assist with the Safety Program as needed.
Respond to after-hours call-ins when necessary (occasional and as required to maintain operations).
All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Desired skill sets
3-5 years of maintenance experience.
Self-starter and a team player that will take ownership of their role in the organization.
Attitude, willingness and capability of being able to do any required task.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to make decisions both individually and as a manager.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes
Exceptional technical competence and aptitude for maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to manage many projects at the same time, while maintaining daily tasks.
Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Education and Qualifications
Four years related experience and /or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
High school diploma or GED required.
An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is a plus.
Two years of experience in a supervisory role.
Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Physical Job Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 70lbs
Good hand/eye coordination
May involve some repetitive motions such as frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts
Must be able to work in various temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold
