Overview
Plant Superintendent- Arbuckle, CA
– This is a salaried, exempt level position.
The Plant Superintendent will oversee all daily operations at ADM’s Rice Mill in Arbuckle, CA. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and progressive plant activities. The Superintendent will maintain a clean and compliant workplace that meets company policies and regulatory standards, including OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, and HARPC. They will also train and supervise both salaried and hourly employees, supporting operational excellence and facility upkeep.
Responsibilities
Ensure successful day-to-day operations of the Rice Mill in the areas of safety, quality, and production
Interview, hire, and train production staff as needed
Implement standard operating procedures to consistently achieve optimum efficiency
Direct progressive activities for the plant
Report directly to the Plant Manager
Supervise the performance of department supervisors and staff
Assist in managing production processes to meet quality specifications and production schedules
Help troubleshoot production issues, optimize yields and productivity, and control costs
Provide leadership for colleague development and support the achievement of plant goals
Assist with all third-party audits
Work with the Commercial team to develop the milling schedule and meet contract deadlines and cutoffs
Help implement LCS and other safety programs across the facility
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
3–5 years of production and supervisory experience, preferably within rice or milling
Proven leadership in plant health and safety programs
Experience managing a food processing facility using GMP and HARPC standards
Skill Qualifications
Proficient in computer systems and software
Technical knowledge in mechanics, instrumentation, controls, calculations, and utility systems
Strong oral and written communication skills
Effective leadership, management, and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle conflict, motivate, instruct, and train staff fairly and directly
Ability to use performance metrics to drive results
Strong time management and organizational skills
Independent problem-solving ability
Commitment to continuous improvement and high performance standards
Conditions
Must be able to climb stairs, stand and sit for extended periods, work in confined spaces and at heights, bend, kneel, and lift at least 50 lbs
Prompt and reliable attendance is required

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
The pay range for this position is expected to be between:
$70,400.00 - $131,600.00
Salaried Incentive Plan
The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus
