Job Description
This position will be responsible for leading a brownfield effort in standing up a new saltwater tower operation. Initially, this role will be a project manager for overseeing the renovation of an existing building, partnering with engineering on equipment selection and commissioning, and finally transitioning into a traditional plant manager role responsible for workforce training and management during production ramp up and on to perpetual operations. Demonstrated experience in operational leadership and project management is required. Experience with metal tube cutting, bending, welding fabrication, and/or powdercoat finishing is highly preferred. Key objectives include ensuring production and delivery of top-quality product, ensuring the company’s production team is well-trained and stable, establishing/refining plant policies and procedures, vetting production processes, determining realistic plant production goals, planning for increased production capacity, fostering a strong employee environment through clear and consistent communication, and driving cost and quality initiatives in all cases using technology, lean principles, and manufacturing best practices. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Responsible for plant production goals and continuous improvements including the use of lean principles. Develop a well-trained, motivated supervisory staff. Maintain a clean and safe plant. Direct plant operations and product quality control within company policies and procedures. Oversee manpower needs and shift schedules in conjunction with department heads. Work with departments to ensure effective coordination of purchasing, scheduling, production, and shipping/logistics. Responsible for introduction, maintenance, and management of product testing and suggesting product improvements. Conduct employee performance reviews per corporate guidelines. Establish and maintain clear, consistent, and inclusive intra-company communications plan. Assist in development of strong and objective commercial agreements with key suppliers. Establish and maintain local community relations. Work with company finance staff to refine bill of materials. Knowledge and Skill Requirements
BS degree in management or engineering. Academic achievements combined with significant operations management experience / Plant Management level (10 years). Significant track record in increasing levels of leadership and career success required. Outstanding manufacturing knowledge and supervisory skills also required. In-depth knowledge of tube cutting, bending, welding, and powdercoat finishing processes. Demonstrated strategic planning and problem-solving skills. Information systems fluency, with knowledge of manufacturing statements, MRP operations, and Microsoft Office products. Strong training in LEAN manufacturing and/or Six Sigma practices. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work well with and motivate a diverse group of people. Ability to handle complicated product issues including custom orders. Demonstrated management of profit center/cost center responsibility and budgeting processes. Personal Characteristics
