Pharmacists are responsible for knowing the purposes, effects, and side effects of various drugs. Caregivers in this role should be able to tell from looking at a patient's profile whether or not it is safe to combine new medications with the medications that the patient is already taking. Modern drugs have the potential to significantly improve patient's quality of life, however, they must be taken correctly, with the proper frequency, and in the appropriate dosage.

A caregiver in this position works 8-hour varying shifts between 6:00AM – 9:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based medication services. Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations. Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner. Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards. Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences. Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

PharmD or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire CurrentBasic Life Support (BLS)certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) andcompletion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course inthe administration of immunizations or certificationobtained within 90 days (for individuals required to administer immunizations). Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or PediatricAdvanced Life Support (PALS)certification through American Heart Association (AHA). For caregivers required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest, this is required within one year of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Board certification Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or 2 years of relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a specialized pharmacy practice area (i.e. Critical Care, Oncology)

Physical Requirements :

Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting. Must have normal or corrected vision. Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person

Personal Protective Equipment :

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
