JOB TITLE: Forensic Nurse Specialist - LPN EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Per Diem SCHEDULED HOURS: Varies PROGRAM/LOCATION: DOC Osborn, Enfield, CT ABOUT THE PROGRAM: DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS To be a member of the core team responsible for the provision of Medication Assisted Treatment to the inmate population within Department of Correction facilities. Responsibilities
Provide Medication Assisted Treatment for inmates with substance use or co-occurring disorders. Function in collaboration with CHR OTP team, Department of Corrections Safety and Security staff, and Department of Corrections Health and Addictions Services with the objective of providing daily care. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform ongoing evaluation of patients’ response to treatment, including assessment of withdrawal symptoms, vital signs. Prepare individual medication doses as ordered by a physician. Provide dosing for all three FDA approved Medications for Opioid Use Disorder. Responsible to accurately input data into the electronic health record, including medicationspecific software and behavioral health record. Execute the medical and medication regimen of care as ordered by the physician. Provide services in Department of Correction facilities. Coordinate admission and discharge documentation. Monitor toxicology screens, document results, and prepare results for laboratory. Adhere to the standards for Medication Assisted Treatment as outlined by DPH, DMHAS, National Commission on Correctional Healthcare, D.E.A., and the U.S. Federal Government. Monitor medication stock and ordering as described in CHR policies and all regulatory bodies. Provide medication injections as ordered by APRN or MD. Communicate with team members and Medical Doctor regarding patient status and progress. Maintain documentation in compliance with agency and program standards. Participate in staff meetings, supervision, trainings and other meetings as assigned. Additional duties as required. Qualifications
Education:
Nursing education for LPN; for Per Diem LPN or RN. Experience:
Nursing experience on OTP preferred, not required. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
License Practical Nurse for full-time position, LPN or Registered Nurse license for Per Diem positions; successful completion of Department of Correction Background checks. Why Join CHR?
