Electrical Test engineer
located in
Dallas, TX . Reporting to the
Quality Director , the
Electrical Test engineer
will be responsible for developing the “test playbook” for the whole business, ensuring labs, processes, and results across sites are consistent, compliant, and scalable. What a typical day looks like
Define test policies, standards, and procedures for electrical products Ensure compliance with global standards (UL, IEC, ANSI, IEEE, CSA, NEMA) Define type tests, routine tests, environmental tests for new products Manage certification testing with external agencies (UL, CE, CSA, ASTA, etc.) Oversee corporate or regional test labs: safety, calibration, upgrades Specify and approve new test equipment (high-voltage sources, partial discharge analyzers, thermal chambers, data acquisition systems) Drive automation & digitalization of testing and reporting Support site-level engineers with difficult failures or systemic issues Lead root cause analysis for product failures in test or field return scenarios Provide technical expertise to plants during customer witness testing Collect and analyze test data across multiple sites Create dashboards & KPIs for product reliability and test lab performance The experience we’re looking to add to our team
Bachelor degree in related field 6 years of experience in testing (short-circuit withstand, dielectric, temperature rise, partial discharge, arc-flash containment); hands-on experience with medium- and low-voltage electrical equipment (switchgear, circuit breakers, relays, busbars, drives) Deep knowledge of type testing (short-circuit withstand, dielectric, temperature rise, partial discharge, arc-flash containment) Familiarity with routine / production testing as well as design validation testing Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles (power systems, protection, insulation, fault currents, grounding) Working knowledge of UL, IEC, ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, CSA standards for electrical distribution equipment Experience leading certification efforts with external agencies (UL, ASTA, CE, KEMA, etc.) Strong troubleshooting skills for failures during test (insulation breakdown, trip unit misbehavior, mechanical interlock failure) Availability to travel 50% of the time Flex is an Equal Opportunity Employer and employment selection decisions are based on merit, qualifications, and abilities.
