Overview

Environmental, Health & Safety – Laboratory / QC Technician (Chemist) collects and prepares samples from various process, product, and environmental streams throughout the chemical manufacturing complex. The technician completes analyses, performs calculations, and documents and communicates results of analyses. Analytical techniques include wet chemistry, physical property analysis, gas/liquid chromatography, ICP, UV-VIS, and IR spectroscopy. Reports to the Lab Supervisor and is part of a team that works 12-hour rotating shifts onsite. Responsibilities

Collect and analyze product, environment, and process stream samples to assist operations, engineering, maintenance, and EHS departments in decisions and troubleshooting plant processes and equipment. Record results into LIMS and report results to applicable team members within defined timeframes. Recognize and communicate deviations in analytical results and complete reporting protocols for procedural or analytical non-conformances, off-spec product or process stream anomalies. Understand and comply with established procedures supporting internal controls; identify and bring to management any internal control deficiencies. Perform calculations and prepare commonly used reagents, including those from hazardous stock reagents such as concentrated acids, bases, and solvents. Troubleshoot and repair laboratory instrumentation. Promote safety and regulatory compliance, including proper PPE usage, implementing safety procedures, identifying hazards, and communicating findings per established procedures. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences or equivalent experience Experience: 2+ years of related professional work experience Schedule: Ability to work 12-hour shifts with rotating days/nights and overtime (four 12-hour days, four days off, four 12-hour nights, four days off, repeat) Physical: Regularly lift up to 50 lbs, move compressed gas cylinders, stand for long periods, wear a respirator, and ascend/descend stairs and ladders Benefits
