Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer (Thermal Chilled Water Systems) at Vertiv, supporting the design and development of Data Center Chilled Water Systems cooling products and improving existing products based on client needs. Focus is on Mechanical CAD design to ensure all physical aspects of the product are designed and documented in line with production, service and customer expectations. This role supports product production transfer, interfaces with the center of excellence, and manages the bill of materials while collaborating with Product Management and ETO teams to satisfy business requirements. Responsibilities

Be highly competent in MCAD design for physical product features in Solid Edge or CREO. Take direct responsibility for the choice and sizing of main components for standard and special products, prepare and distribute documentation for realization to ensure production schedules are met. Ensure accurate and reliable design information is shared with internal and external customers. Involve actively in product prototyping and testing. Prepare technical documentation accurately and on time, coordinating with in-house and outsourced resources. Manage marketing requests and collaborate with multiple departments. Manage bill of materials (ERP and PLM). Understand refrigerant circuits and related standards applicable. Interface with sales networks, suppliers and productive departments. Calculate costs of designed solutions in collaboration with the project manager and/or ETO manager. Improve, update, and review mechanical drawings based on information from production, purchasing and logistics to simplify assembly, reduce costs, and improve quality. Support R&D or ETO work of other engineering teams in different regions as needed. Re-engineer existing thermal products for performance, regulatory, or cost improvements (VA/VE). Coordinate and manage mechanical new design or re-industrialization steps of different units. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline. 5+ years of engineering experience in a relevant product development environment. Expert knowledge of MCAD tools for designing framework, sheet metal and pipework products common in the HVAC market; transferable expertise from similar industries accepted. Knowledge of technical norms, company procedures and grounding of basic detailed lists. Ability to take decisions to solve problems. Knowledge of sheet metal working technologies, refrigerant circuits, and components. Fluent in English and Croatian (spoken, reading, and writing). Technical Skills: 2D/3D CAD design. Process Skills: Demonstrates structural process capabilities with focus on continuous improvements. Communication: Excellent listening and written/verbal communication skills. Initiative: Works independently and is motivated to take on new challenges. Imagination / Problem Solving: Ability to assess problems, break them down and determine timely and cost-effective solutions.
