Overview
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to support the Sentinel program in Roy, UT. The role involves fabrication, assembly, system integration, and testing of hardware; developing Manufacturing Plans; conducting Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA); and assisting with startup of a new program. The candidate will work with NG sectors and suppliers, demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and communicate effectively with customer, NGC, and supplier personnel and leadership. The position requires a highly motivated self-starter with knowledge across manufacturing activities for deployment of a state-of-the-art weapon system. Responsibilities
Provide advanced technical ideas and SME to resolve questions and ensure compliance with the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) SOW requirements. Lead and guide program IPTs and Suppliers in support of: Production documentation and data; Build/Buy decisions; Assembly, installation, and work instructions; Specialty tooling design and production for field installation activities; and serve as team liaison and SME during field activities. Represent the organization as a technical contact; interact with senior personnel on important technical matters; facilitate inter-team coordination; reinforce leadership’s vision and goals. Develop processes by studying requirements; research, design, modify, and test production/deployment methods and equipment; collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure practical manufacturing and fabrication solutions. Coordinate with the integration teams on day-to-day activities; resolve complex process issues; work with suppliers to develop manufacturing planning for MRAs; research and evaluate tools and equipment to support deployment activities. Investigate root causes of discrepancies and implement corrective actions; troubleshoot existing processes to improve safety, quality, cost, and efficiency. Develop and maintain detailed work and installation instructions for assigned products/processes; educate/train operators on new and existing processes. Establish and maintain a program/project plan and schedule aligned with the program IMS; provide on-site engineering support during field installations; support deployment and installation of products; develop BOMs; support system design and tool design. Implement Lean practices to continually identify opportunities for improvement. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's with 3 years; or PhD with 1 year; 4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree. Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with ability to obtain/maintain SAP approval as required by the business need. Experience with Design Reviews, Process Control Documentation, Work Instructions, and Bills of Materials; experience with mechanical/electrical drawings; experience with Siemens NX/CPLM or similar tools and MES; experience with Microsoft Office. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline. Experience deploying engineering solutions to production and field; prior experience in military production; experience on EMD projects and high-rate production programs. Experience with ICBM programs; understanding of MRAs and Manufacturing Readiness Levels per DoD requirements; tooling design for field work; MB-Mfg environment; project management experience; experience resolving manufacturing process issues and training operators on new processes. Primary salary range: $86,600.00 - $130,000.00. The final offer is based on factors including scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply depending on the position. Long-Term Incentives may apply for VP/Director levels.
