Engineering Manager, Ubuntu Server - Ubuntu Pro
Join the Canonical team as an Engineering Manager responsible for the software that manages access to all professional Ubuntu offerings. In this role you will lead a globally distributed team of engineers and own the product that runs on every major release of Ubuntu. Responsibilities
Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers. Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback and hands‑on career development. Work with Product Management to define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team. Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices. Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company values. Oversee the quality of the Ubuntu Server image family and plan and deliver new server features. Engage with teams at Canonical, the open source community and commercial partners. Participate in strong engineering process through code and architectural review. Be an active part of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders in the organization. Work from home with global travel for up to six weeks per year for internal and external events. Qualifications
3+ years of experience leading, managing, coaching and mentoring software developers. Strong track record of developing and growing people. Knowledge and passion for software development. Focused on success and delivery of timely, high‑quality software. Experience working in an agile development environment. Strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English. Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or similar degree. Practical experience with at least one of Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services. Experience with a modern GNU/Linux distribution, Debian or Ubuntu preferred. Benefits
