Overview We are seeking a compassionate Psychiatric & Family Nurse Practitioner to join our team. Advanced Recovery Systems is a trusted, physician-led behavioral healthcare company dedicated to providing evidence-based, expert care for addiction and mental health conditions. Specialized programming designed to meet the unique needs of veterans and first responders is also offered in select facilities.

Responsibilities

Provide medical and mental health care to patients admitted to ARS facilities and throughout treatment within the continuum of care.

Follow facility policies and state and federal regulations; work with the facility leadership team to ensure success.

Screen for co-occurring primary mental health issues and for Substance Use Disorders (SUD), including psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms.

Assess medications, detoxification protocols, and prescribing practices; manage medication care and complications.

Screen for danger to self or others using evidence-based tools (e.g., CSSRS, PHQ-9); interpret data to inform treatment priorities.

Screen for nutrition deficiencies and refer for nutrition consultation as appropriate.

Assess pain and implement pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic strategies with individualized considerations regarding dependency risk.

Demonstrate proficiency with electronic health records, complete required documentation in a timely manner, and ensure compliance with policies, state regulations, and Joint Commission standards.

Complete and document: Psychiatric Evaluations, Physical Examinations, Medical Progress Notes, Medical Discharge Summaries, medications and orders, allergies, diagnoses, lab results, and other relevant records.

Review HIV and STD results with appropriate notification to nursing and patient-centered treatment planning as applicable.

Understand ASAM criteria and Medical Needs Criteria; document decision-making and treatment planning accordingly.

On-call responsibilities: provide contact and back-up numbers, be responsive, and remain within one hour of the facility when on call.

Other Required Tasks With The Medical Director

Develop cost-effective methods to provide medically necessary therapeutic services.

Assist in maintaining high standards of patient care and perform peer reviews when required.

Provide support to Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and students as required.

Adhere to safety/risk, infection control, and related guidelines.

Clocks into ADP at designated times if non-exempt.

Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduated from an accredited Nursing Master’s Program with a Family Nurse Practitioner or higher and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner degree.

Experience in Addiction Medicine/Primary Behavioral Health preferred.

Familiarity with JCAHO and ASAM standards preferred.

Experience with Continuous Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement methodologies.

Strong communication skills; self-motivated and confident.

Depending on state practice, a protocol agreement may be required between NP and Medical Director.

Licensed as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate state; DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances required.

DEA-registered prescribers should have completed at least eight hours of education on treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

State-specific requirements regarding protocol agreements or DEA issuance may apply.
