Overview
We are seeking a compassionate Supervisory Psychiatrist with Medical Directorship to join our team. Advanced Recovery Systems is a trusted, physician‑led behavioral healthcare company dedicated to providing evidence‑based, expert care for addiction and mental health conditions. Specialized programming is offered in select facilities to meet the unique needs of veterans and first responders.
Responsibilities The Psychiatrist provides medical and psychiatric services to patients admitted to ARS facilities and throughout treatment within the continuum of care. The Psychiatrist supports and follows the policies, rules, and regulations of the facility as well as the standards of State and Federal regulations. Works effectively with the facility leadership team to ensure facility success by completing the following objectives.
Job Duties
Provide excellent medical care with the ARS philosophy outlined by the Chief Medical Officer, including knowledge of medications, assessment for medication complications, detoxification protocols, and prescribing medications.
Demonstrate proficiency in the electronic health record with all required documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies, state regulation, Joint Commission standards, and Medical Needs Criteria. Complete all required Electronic Record Documents in a timely manner: Psychiatric Evaluation, Admission History and Physical Evaluation, Medical Progress Notes, Discharge Summary with Medication Reconciliation, Orders, and documentation of ASAM Criteria and Medical Needs Criteria.
Interpret Urine Drug Screens and apply ASAM criteria in clinical decision making.
Provide on‑call coverage, including contact and backup numbers, and remain responsive and available when assigned on‑call duties.
Educate nursing, patients, and staff on patient‑care topics as needed.
Other Required Tasks
Implement plans for Performance Improvement as needed.
Develop cost‑effective therapeutic services with the Medical Director.
Formulate and support the highest standards of patient care.
Supervise Level of Care changes and provide peer reviews when required.
Provide supervision and support to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as required.
Abide by safety, risk, infection control, and other guidelines.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Graduated from an accredited medical or osteopathic school.
Experience in addiction medicine.
Familiarity with Joint Commission and other healthcare standards.
Strong communication skills with all facility staff.
Self‑motivated and confident.
Licensure & Certification
Licensed to practice medicine (MD or DO) in the applicable state.
Board certification in Psychiatry; ABPM‑Addiction Medicine preferred.
Valid DEA number for controlled medication prescriptions.
Required SAMHSA/DEA Buprenorphine waiver.
