The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) prepares specimens for analysis by accessioning orders via LIS (CIS), verifying specimen acceptability, and performing established pre-analytical procedures in accordance with laboratory policy in an accurate, safe, and timely manner. This role supports clinical laboratories by resolving problem specimens/orders and responding to inquiries regarding test results and specimen collection criteria. The Medical Lab Technician performs duties in a customer-focused, courteous, and efficient manner. Flexibility for other duties as assigned by team leaders, supervisors, and departmental managers is required. The role involves providing accurate and timely testing, reporting results to physicians and healthcare professionals for diagnosis and treatment. Excellent customer service skills are essential for internal and external interactions. A positive, professional interpersonal style and a strong team commitment are mandatory. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire
Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or an equivalent accrediting agency. New graduates must obtain certification within 12 months of hire. Experience
Minimum: Entry Level Medical Laboratory Technician Graduate. Education/Training
Associate Degree in Clinical/Medical Lab Sciences, unless grandfathered under previous requirements. Additional Position Requirements
Rotating weekends and holiday scheduling as required. On-call availability (approximately 4-5 weeks per year) for emergency coverage. Physical and Other Requirements
Lifting less than 20 lbs. and 20-50 lbs. Exposure to biohazards and infectious fluids. Prolonged standing and sitting. Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, communication skills, and adaptability to a fast-paced environment. Night shift availability. Equal Opportunity Employer.
