System Float Pool – Emergency Room RN (Full Time, Nights)
Join Houston Methodist as a licensed emergency room registered nurse working nights.
The System Float Pool provides float opportunities across multiple hospitals within the Houston Methodist system.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient nursing care to a diverse patient population in the emergency department.
Conduct nursing assessments, assist with examinations and treatment, and maintain accurate medical records.
Prioritize patient care based on needs, abilities, and preferences and advocate on behalf of patients and families.
Participate in unit and shared governance initiatives, serve as charge nurse or preceptor, and contribute to hospital-wide service line initiatives.
Manage emergencies and coordinate care with the interprofessional healthcare team.
Qualifications
Graduate of an approved RN education program.
Two years of registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment.
RN license in Texas – permanent Texas license within 60 days if establishing Texas residency.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Instructor (AHA) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Instructor (AHA).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Instructor (AHA), NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSTROKE) or Instructor (CPI) and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or Instructor (CPI) within 60 days.
Magnets – ANCC Recognized Certification preferred.

Additional Information Self‑scheduling – must work 18 shifts in a 6‑week period.
This is a PRN (permanent regular nurse) position with on‑call support during emergencies.
Work attire includes scrubs.
Travel requirements are limited to the Houston Metropolitan area.
