Clinical pharmacists implement medication therapy for patients and monitor care, ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient treatment. This includes medication preparation, participating in drug distribution, monitoring drug therapy, providing drug information to patients and providers, delivering clinical pharmacy services, and solving medication-related problems. They must work effectively as team members, communicate clearly and professionally, and provide excellent customer service. They should be willing to work with trainees such as students, interns, residents, or new staff.

Responsibilities include:

Preparing and dispensing medications following policies, laws, and standards, and solving medication use problems.

Providing effective drug information to diverse audiences.

Participating in quality improvement activities.

Supervising daily workflow and staff as needed.

Educating and training residents, students, interns, and colleagues.

Qualifications include an advanced degree (PharmD or MS) or equivalent experience, effective communication, and computer literacy skills. Additional qualifications like residency training or certifications may be required depending on the specific role. Licensure to dispense controlled substances in Utah is required, with options for current or temporary licenses.

Preferred qualifications include residency training.

Physical demands involve light work, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
