Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. Brightpoint Community College is seeking qualified individuals to teach in-person, online/hybrid didactic, laboratory instruction, and clinical courses in the Radiologic Technology program. Full-time teaching responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of 15-credit hours per semester, engaging students in the learning process, clinicals, supervision of students, course and curriculum development, student advising, and accurate maintenance of student files. Full-time faculty members fully participate in Radiologic Technology program development and evaluation, college activities and committees, and represent Brightpoint at community events and professional opportunities. Responsibilities
Teach in-person, online/hybrid didactic, clinical courses. Manage student clinical competencies and performance evaluations; coordinate clinical education with didactic education; evaluate effectiveness. Correlate and coordinate clinical education with didactic education; assist in administration of the program; maintain knowledge of professional discipline and educational methodologies through professional development. Maintain program policies, procedures, and student progress; participate in accreditation and assessment processes. Advise students; serve on division and college-wide committees; participate in activities supporting the college mission. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to imaging sciences, education, or health. Two years clinical experience in the professional discipline. One-year experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited program. Current ARRT certification and registration in radiography. Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to the mission of community colleges; excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to teach day, evening and weekend hours; travel to locations mainly within Central Virginia. Ability to use current and emerging instructional technologies and distance learning technologies; proficient in curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, and academic advising. Familiarity with regional accreditation standards, certification, and licensure requirements. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check. Additional Considerations
Teaching experience within an accredited radiography program; administrative, program management, and/or curriculum development experience. Familiarity with instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning; experience with active learning and student-centered teaching styles. Experience developing online courses in a college setting. Master’s degree or higher in a field related to imaging sciences or education; additional credential in CT, MRI, and/or Mammography. Experience teaching in higher education, especially within a community college; experience advising and mentoring students. Application Instructions
