Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. As a DSP, you support pharmacy teams across the district, covering pharmacist scheduling gaps under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL). You will be accountable for supporting the management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team in stores throughout the district. Responsibilities
Live CVS Health’s purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel within the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled; oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following, and guiding the team to follow, pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation. Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the team to do the same; collaborate with the patient’s total healthcare team and resolve insurance and medication issues. Offer and deliver immunizations where permissible, and engage and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Assist with pharmacy inventory management across all pharmacies worked, following inventory best practices and protecting cold chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, complete required trainings, and pursue opportunities to expand knowledge to support patients. Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (e.g., testing and prescribing services where permissible). Understand and comply with federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies; ensure patient privacy and a safe workplace. Any additional tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Manager. Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located Active National Provider Identifier (NPI) Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list Essential Functions
Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe Attention and Focus Concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner Notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately Communication Skills Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues Practice active listening and ask questions as appropriate Mathematical Reasoning Use math to determine dispensing quantities, days of supply, and related calculations Problem Resolution Identify challenging interactions and determine best course of action Physical Demands Be mobile and upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead Fine motor work and manual dexterity; ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed Close visual acuity for reading and computer work Other duties as directed by Supervisor or Manager. The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $60.00 - $74.00 per hour. The actual offer depends on experience, education, geography and other factors.
