Job Summary
Utilizes computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross‑section images of patients' internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues in compliance with proper safety procedures and protocols. The incumbent interprets a physician's scanning instructions, administers contrast materials, prepares and operates the CT scan equipment and positions the patient to capture the appropriate images.
Responsibilities
Maneuver equipment and patients during scans.
Provide basic patient care and ensure patient comfort.
Submit accurate and timely imaging data.
Document patient history and perform case charging.
Support department initiatives related to patient and employee satisfaction.
Maintain current CT skills and continue professional development.
Essential Functions
Execute all diagnostic CT studies operating equipment such as General Electric CT scanners, associated workstations, and patient care equipment.
Follow formal protocols for all work assignments; explain procedures to patients and respond to questions.
Complete assigned examinations, including filming, jacket retrieval, and location of old images.
Deliver patient care for all age groups requiring CT services and act as a liaison between the patient and the radiologist.
Perform basic activities related to patient care; respond to emergency situations while delivering patient care.
Consult with nursing floor regarding changes in patient’s condition; document in‑patient charts with patient care notes and complete incident forms for the time patient is in the CT suite.
Enter patient data in existing computer database and record applicable exam codes and supplies used on billing sheet.
Perform Quality Assurance audits and activities as assigned.
Job Requirements
Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology, including coursework in cross‑sectional anatomy or demonstrated skill/knowledge in cross‑sectional anatomy.
Licensure & Certifications
Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT (RTR)
Basic Life Support – CPR (BLS‑CPR)
Medical Radiographer: WA (MRAD:WA)
