Overview

Depot Equipment Technician role at Hitachi Rail. The position is based in Pearl City, HI, on the Honolulu Rail Project. Hitachi Rail seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to contribute to continuous improvement and innovation on a major infrastructure project. Responsibilities

Performs corrective, preventive and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, adjustments, testing, cleaning, lubrication and proper maintenance of electro-mechanical Maintenance Storage Facilities Equipment in accordance with wiring diagrams, schematics, operations and maintenance manuals. Observes electromechanical components and devices in operation to detect potential failures and locate causes of malfunction. Perform troubleshooting, identification and resolution of system and subsystem to support field technicians in the diagnosis and correction of faults. Produce accurate maintenance records of track, third rail and related infrastructure, equipment performance, work accomplished, and other information using a computerized maintenance management system. Analyze log files to troubleshoot complex issues and provide corrective action and improvement. Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty. Operate equipment to move trains in and out of the shop and for wheel turning activities in accordance with training and qualifications. Maintain electro-mechanical equipment at the Maintenance Storage Facilities Equipment including wheel lathes, train wash, wheel press, overhead gantry cranes, train lifting equipment, fork lifts, and dock levelers. Operate wheel turning machines, wheel presses, train lifts, cranes and other depot equipment as trained and qualified. Support on-site spare parts management and repair cycle from/to the site. Produce work blocks and Job Hazard Analysis for planned work; conduct job and safety briefings as required. Perform duties as instructed by Rolling Stock and Depot Lead/Manager and Rolling Stock Engineer; complete operational, equipment failure, safety and other reports as required. Participate in training programs as required and comply with Safety Rules, Operating Rule Book and first-aid procedures. Use electronic test equipment and tools; ensure maintenance records are collected and day-to-day maintenance performance is monitored. Ensure conformance to technical specifications and compliance with operational tolerances; ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available and in good condition for maintenance. Early identification of failure trends that may impact fleet availability; perform failure analysis and technical investigation. Compliance with company safety policy and local regulations; perform related duties as required. Work in close proximity to electrical power and follow safety procedures (e.g., lock-out/tag-out) as required. Support first-line maintenance safety standards and be flexible to shift rotations, weekends and holidays typical of major infrastructure projects and transit systems. Perform additional cross-functional duties on related track and third rail systems within training and qualifications. Required Skills/Knowledge

Experience of electronic and/or electromechanical vehicle equipment maintenance. Ability to use common and specialized tools and test equipment. Knowledge of safety rules regarding lock-out tag-out protection. Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, operation manuals, and maintenance instructions related to MSF Equipment Systems. Desired Skills/Knowledge

1-2 years’ experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Education
