The X-ray Technologist is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations. Position : X-ray Technologist - Per Diem Location: OCEAN MEDICAL CENTER, Brick, New Jersey Requisition # 2025-168437
Shift: Day
Status: Per Diem
Responsibilities
Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, shielding, selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs. Select and operate equipment as required for specific procedures.
Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record, significant others and health care providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety. Collects information based on patient needs or condition.
In accordance with ALARA principles, restricts radiation beam through proper and safe collimation, providing safe care to all patients.
Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
Follows operational procedure to safely identify patient images with name and MRN, correctly mark the image as to the side of the patient taken.
Processes and reconstructs all images using available methods.
Maintains orderly x-ray room, including ordering and maintaining proper and adequate supplies as directed by head of the department.
Prepares radiopaque contrast media and assists providers when necessary in administering radiopaque mixtures to patients.
Performs administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instruction, maintenance of records, reception of patients and other administrative duties as required.
Assists patients with mobility and positioning in line with individual needs and abilities.
Adheres to department schedules including holidays and weekends; overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.
On-call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.
Adheres to organizational policies and standards of behavior, attendance, and punctuality.
Greets patients and supports exam workflow using established patient care standards.
Performs daily clerical duties with EPIC, PACS, Teletracking System and other computer systems as added by hospital.
Identifies the needs of the patient population served and delivers care that is specific to those needs (age, culture, language, sensory impairments, etc.).
Performs specific daily and monthly QA tasks.
Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
High School diploma, GED, or GED equivalent programs.
Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite).
Licenses And Certifications Required
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification
New Jersey state license for Diagnostic Radiology (D.R.)
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 60 days of entering position
Compensation: Starting at $32.92 hourly. Hackensack Meridian Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay at the time of posting and does not reflect the full value of our total rewards package.
