Overview The Physical Therapist 1 (New Grad/Entry Level) provides physical therapy evaluations and treatments under the direction of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing individualized therapy programs to help patients restore function, improve mobility, and relieve pain. The PT demonstrates sound clinical judgment in patient care, documentation, and treatment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
90% – Provides physical therapy services as assigned through the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to Acute Care, ICU’s and/or Inpatient/Outpatient Rehabilitation areas
5% – Educational Activities
5% – Miscellaneous assignments
Minimum Qualifications
California Licensed Physical Therapist
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
Graduated from an accredited physical therapy program (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in the U.S., or completed requirements for foreign-trained physical therapists working in the U.S.
Basic knowledge in Physical Therapy as identified by the Physical Therapy Practice Act and licensure by the State of California
Must be able to perform all responsibilities of a licensed physical therapist as required and assigned by the supervisory staff of Physical Therapy
Must see well enough to observe patient reactions and read relevant monitors, device settings, and written information such as the patient’s medical record
Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with hospital staff in a clear, concise, professional manner
Ability to exercise good judgment
Organizational and developmental skills
Skills and ability to work in stressful situations
Tact and diplomacy skills. Ability to provide and accept guidance
Must hear and speak well enough to communicate with patients and staff throughout the day
Must possess the physical strength to assist with patient mobility
Must possess sufficient mobility to traverse the distances required to serve patients throughout the institution
Must have basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an acute care physical therapy setting
Experienced in documentation via Electronic Medical Record
