Indian Health Service (IHS) facility
located in
Sisseton, South Dakota . This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week government contract role, starting in
October , offering you the opportunity to provide high-quality care to the Lake Traverse Reservation community. This is more than just a job—it's a chance to serve in a meaningful way, improve access to care in underserved areas, and make a lasting impact through culturally competent, team-based healthcare. Key Responsibilities: Provide primary care services to American Indian and Alaska Native patients across the lifespan Conduct physical exams, review patient histories, and order diagnostic tests Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with IHS formulary guidelines Develop and manage individualized patient care plans Educate patients and families on disease prevention and health maintenance Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members Participate in quality improvement efforts and clinical documentation Follow infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality protocols Utilize the Patient Referred Care (PRC) process for external referrals Additional Duties: Other duties may be assigned by the clinic supervisor as needed. Must be certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the American Academy of Physician Assistants 2 years of experience as a Family, Internal Medicine or Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner, Preferred Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration from any State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Must be Board Eligible or Certified DEA Must have current BLS ACLS, PALS preferred Certification of Education - copy of diploma or transcripts Must be a US Citizen living primarily in the United States Must be willing to pass a federal background check U.S. Citizenship and current residence in the continental United States Must not require visa sponsorship (no visa holders or green card residents) Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems We are looking forward to meeting you, please apply today!
