Thrive Pet Healthcare is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician with leadership to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community. At Thrive Pet Healthcare, you will have the support, tools, and resources to elevate your skills.
About The Hospital We offer primary care services for cats and dogs in the Houston Heights area including wellness exams, vaccines, spay & neuter, and end-of-life services. Dr. Omarbek has 30 years of experience as a veterinarian and performs orthopedic surgery and complex surgical intervention. Our goal is to make outpatient surgery accessible to more pets while prioritizing safety and well-being.
About You As a Lead Veterinary Technician, you will oversee hospital flow, ensure good patient care and client service, assist in training new employees, develop new protocols, and manage treatment areas.
Experience & Skills Requirements
2 years of continuous veterinary technician/assistant experience (direct animal/patient care required)
Excellent people skills (ethical, diplomatic, courteous, professional)
Strong leadership skills (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)
Advanced knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia (positive pressure ventilation, capnography, invasive blood pressure monitoring) and familiarity with surgical procedures and equipment
Advanced knowledge of dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
Phlebotomy experience required
Positive work attitude
Self-motivated
Excellent communication and organization skills
Committed to a stress‑free environment for patients

Role Responsibilities
Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
Assist veterinarians and medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with state Veterinary Practice Act.
Communicate individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership, medications, and additional treatments.
Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems.
Obtain health history and information from clients and maintain charts.
Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
Guide, mentor, and support team members.
