Overview
Program Overview: The Outpatient Competency Restoration Rehabilitation program provides competency restoration services and care coordination to individuals who have been found incompetent to stand trial. Services are provided in collaboration with a recovery team and will be provided in jail, home, clinic and community-based settings. The Rehabilitation Specialist uses approved curricula to provide the following services: person-centered recovery planning and needs assessments, legal education, supported housing, supported employment, face-to-face services at a minimum of twice per week, substance use referrals for persons with substance use concerns within 14 days of admission to the OCR program, follow-up services within 24 hours when an individual misses a scheduled appointment, care coordination with the recovery team, other psychiatric/medical providers, family members and other agencies, continuity of care to individuals completing the program and continuity of care to persons who do not complete the program or who are determined to be incapable of restoration to competency.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain effective, professional working relationships with County Courts, including County and District Attorneys, local behavioral health centers, and other community service organizations. Communicate and coordinate services with community mental health providers across the state, as well as local substance use treatment facilities and community resource organizations. Work primarily during normal business hours, Monday through Friday; rotating on-call schedule including evenings and weekends. Operate primarily in the jail, courts, BTCS clinics and the community; meet with individuals in homes and communities, treatment centers, parole/probation offices, jail/detention centers, and other legal facilities, and Bluebonnet Trails’ clinics. Provide transportation to program participants for appointments and complete mental health assessments; assist with referrals to additional services using clinical judgment and state guidelines. Ensure detailed electronic documentation and reporting in accordance with company and state guidelines. Demonstrate passion and aptitude for working with individuals who have chronic and severe behavioral health needs within the criminal justice system. Knowledge of jail diversion, intensive case management, psychotherapeutic medications, substance use treatment, crisis services, community resources, and evidence-based practices in the mental health and criminal justice systems. Engage in regular meetings and training opportunities; balance self-care while performing other duties as assigned with a positive attitude.
Location & Schedule
Location: JBCR; Williamson and Burnet County. Working location primarily in the jail, courts, BTCS clinics and the community. The role involves potential on-call duties including evenings and weekends.
Compensation
Hourly Salary Range: $21.46 – $34.21 Up to $3.50/hour – Previous crisis experience Up to $2.00/hour – Previous experience in a similar role with a community center in Texas Up to $4.00/hour – Tenure with BTCS $.75/hour – Bilingual $1.00/hour – Masters Degree in Human Services $1.00/hour – Advanced Licensure $.50/hour – LCDC Licensure
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services*, demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, recovery-focused environment; possesses a valid Texas Driver's License and maintains approved drivers’ status throughout employment. If degree is not in Human Services, a minimum of 24 credits in a human services field
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish Masters Degree Licensure as Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Licensure as Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor
